Canstar Blue surveyed 826 Australians for their feedback on the item(s) of luggage they’ve purchased and used in the last six years.
The winning brand is the one that receives the highest Overall satisfaction rating once all the scores from the Overall satisfaction criteria are combined and averaged.
Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included, so not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey. The brands rated in this survey are listed below in order of best overall satisfaction.

Samsonite was rated five stars for design, durability, security and overall satisfaction, with four stars for value for money.
Founded in 1910, Samsonite has a rich history in the travel world, with its heritage in wooden trunks, before the world became smaller and the luggage more compact. Today, the brand offers a wide range of luggage options, from traditional wheeled options through to duffle bags and backpacks, in addition to packing and luggage accessories to ensure you can take everything you need with you. The ranges are further split into travel needs and sizes, allowing you to search for something for a weekend trip, or for when you’re heading away from home for a long stint. Laptop backpacks are also available, with the Eco and RED ranges also available for those who are after something specific.
Flylite was rated five stars for design and value for money, with four stars for security, durability and overall satisfaction.
Flylite offers a huge selection of suitcases, vanity cases and duffle bags, with a range of sizes to suit your travel needs. The main selling point, according to the brand, is how it maintains a lightweight design in both its hard case and soft case models. Common features to expect include built-in TSA combination locks, anti-theft secure zips, eight spinner wheels and self-repairing zippers. There’s a variety of sizes and colours available, allowing you to find something that suits your needs and style, with wheeled options also available to help take some of strain. You can also find specific luggage models, including a large beauty case, as well as under seat bags and travel accessories to help cover all your bases.
Guess was rated four stars for security, design and overall satisfaction, with three stars for durability and value for money.
An American clothing brand, Guess has delved into various areas of fashion, with luggage no exception. Offering a number of options to choose from, Guess luggage is available as duffle bags, wheeled suitcases, backpacks, tote bags, under seat bags along with additional accessories and carry-on options. While slightly more expensive than other brands, Guess might be an option for those who like a bit more style while they’re flying.
Kathmandu was rated five stars for durability, four stars for security, design and overall satisfaction, and three stars for value for money.
A go-to for adventuring types, Kathmandu offers a wide variety of baggage options, from those suited to help you trek overland with, as well as take flight with to a new destination. Most of its range comes in the form of backpacks and rucksacks, with some wheeled models available for those who aren’t keen on carrying their bags everywhere. Kathmandu also offers packing cubes to help you fit everything you need into your next journey, along with money belts and pouches to keep things close.
American Tourister was rated four stars for design, security and overall satisfaction, with three stars for durability and value for money.
Known for its bright colours, American Tourister has been operating for over 90 years, and is currently owned by Samsonite. The bulk of its range centres around wheeled luggage models, from rolling tote bags through to large traditional luggage units, with the Skittle NXT model available for those with children, allowing you to keep an eye on your little one along with their luggage. American Tourister also offers duffle bags, including the unique Rollio bag which has a circular design for equal parts style and functionality.
Antler was rated four stars across all categories, including design, durability, value for money, security and overall satisfaction.
A British brand that has been operating for over 100 years, Antler was first centred around leather wardrobe trunks for ocean voyages and motor trunks for longer road trips, with the range today centring around modern travellers. Its range includes carry-on bags, hard and soft-shell wheeled luggage models, weekender and overnight bags, in addition to backpacks and accessories such as packing cubes and belt bags to help with all your travel and storage needs.
ALDI was rated four stars for value for money and security, with three stars for durability, design and overall satisfaction.
Offering seemingly everything you can ever need, from grocery essentials to lawn mowers and even luggage, German supermarket brand ALDI gives you the chance to come home with it all, provided you visit during a Special Buys sale. Only available at certain times of year, ALDI has offered luggage sets in the past, with wheeled hard shell suitcases having been available in the past for an affordable price in comparison to other luggage brands out there, although you may have to contend with the other shoppers out there to snag them!
Kmart was rated four stars for value for money, along with three stars for security, durability, design and overall satisfaction.
An affordable option for those looking to travel on a budget, fan-favourite Kmart also stocks its own range of luggage, with its line-up including wheeled suitcases for both adults and kids. Hard and soft shell cases are available, with smaller carry on models also available, with multiple styles and colours also available to help you spot your luggage on the carousel.
