Aussies have rated Hobart as the top destination in Canstar Blue’s latest Aussie Escape ratings, with the city rated five stars for atmosphere/people & culture, value for money, food & beverage, accommodation, ease of getting around and overall satisfaction.
Our review compares Aussie Escapes on customer satisfaction, so you can find out what other Aussies think about the compared brands before you go ahead with a purchase. Think of it as like asking hundreds of your closest mates which Aussie Escape they think is best!
Canstar Blue surveyed 1,222 Australians who have visited an Australian major city or region for a holiday or break in the last three years. Note: they must have spent at least two nights at the location.
The winning brand is the one that receives the highest Overall satisfaction rating once all the scores from the Overall satisfaction criteria are combined and averaged.
Locations must have received at least 30 responses to be included, so not all locations available in the market have been compared in this survey. The locations rated in this survey are listed below in order of best overall satisfaction.

From 1830s Georgian warehouses in Salamanca Place, to world-class gourmet restaurants on Elizabeth Street, Hobart has a little bit of everything for everyone. Wander through quaint little cottages on Kelly Street in Hobart’s historic Battery Point village, or take a ferry up to the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA). Trek up Mount Wellington for picturesque views of the city, and admire the waterways that supply fresh drinking water to the world.
If the weather isn’t great, you can still enjoy panoramic views of Hobart and Bruny Island from the suburbs of Mount Nelson. The Mount Nelson Signal Station opened in 1811 and was the first of many signal stations connecting Hobart Town to Port Arthur. It’s also close to Truganini Reserve, which boasts 130 hectares of protected native bushland, allowing you to fully envelop yourself in nature.
