What new shows are coming to Disney+ in October?

 

 

Last Days of the Space Age 

Premiering on Wednesday, October 2, Last Days of the Space Age is an Australian Disney+ original series that follows the events of three families living in Perth in 1979. Amidst a power strike and the town’s hosting of the Miss Universe pageant, chaos threatens to tear apart the community. 

 

 

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place 

Everyone’s favourite magical family is back on Wednesday, October 30 with a brand new series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. This time, the show follows Justin Russo’s return back into the world of magic, when his sister Alex brings a young wizard, Billie, to his door who is in desperate need of training. But BIllie is more than a rebellious wizard, and her power might just reveal a magical prophecy.

Agatha All Along

Marvel’s Agatha All Along is set after the events of WandaVision and follows the infamous Agatha Harkness after she is broken free from a distorted spell by Teen. Together they form a rag-tag coven and embark on the Witches’ Road – a magical place that grants witches what they need. New episodes of Agatha All Along are released weekly on Thursdays, with the finale premiering on Thursday, October 31.

 

 

Only Murders in the Building – Season 4

The unlikely trio Mabel, Charles and Oliver in Only Murders in the Building became bonded by their love of true crime when a murder occurred in their building. In previous seasons, they decided to start a true crime podcast together and this season their podcast is being turned into a movie. Featuring an all-star cast including Meryl Streep, Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy and Zach Galifianakis, new episodes of Only Murders in the Building season four are set to air every Tuesday. 

 


 

Rivals 

Adapted from the 1988 novel of the same name, Rivals is set in the world of 1980s British television, centring on the feud between ex-Olympian and MP Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham, the head of Corinium Television. With a cutthroat culture, and the potential for sparks to fly in the boardroom and the bedroom, it’s every man – and woman – for themselves. Rivals season one premieres on Friday, October 18.

Hold Your Breath

Coming to Disney+ on Thursday, October 3, Searchlight Pictures’ Hold Your Breath is a psychological thriller set in 1930s Oklaholma, where a dust storm threatens a mother and her two daughters. The woman is convinced that something sinister is brewing that could further endanger her family.

 

LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition

LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition is set to be released on Friday, October 18 on Disney+. While we don’t know a whole lot about this latest movie collaboration between Lego and Marvel, we do know that it features a young hero who accidentally brings forth a new villain that is hell-bent on getting rid of the Avengers. 

 

 

Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara 

This documentary series also airs on Friday, October 18 and follows the catfishing story of Canadian indie rock duo, Tegan and Sara Quin. In 2011, a time when internet fame was only just emerging, Tegan was hacked. What followed was 15 years of identity theft schemes including fake Facebook profiles, and outside access to the sisters’ passports, email accounts and unreleased demos. 

 

 

Carved 

This Disney+ and Hulu original horror comedy film follows a group of teenagers trapped in a reenactment town on Halloween night. Chaos ensues when the pumpkin they’re carving comes alive and fights back. Carved will be available on Disney+ on Monday, October 21.

 

 

Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band 

This one is for the parents! Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band is set to come to Disney+ on Friday, October 25. This documentary follows Springsteen and the band from 2023-24 on their world tour, offering an insider look into the band’s performances, rehearsals, behind the scenes and one-on-one interviews.
