What is the price of the Samsung Galaxy S25?
Samsung is typically tight-lipped about device prices prior to launch. The Samsung Galaxy S24 range was, on average, $50 more upfront for each phone when compared to the previous generation, the Samsung Galaxy S23, with the Ultra models a hefty $150 more. It’s too early to say whether this trend will continue with the Galaxy S25, but buyers should be prepared in the event of slightly-higher outright pricing.
To give you an idea of the potential pricing of the Samsung Galaxy S25, here’s 2024’s launch prices for the Galaxy S24 range:
- Samsung Galaxy S24: from $1,399 AUD
- Samsung Galaxy S24+: from $1,699 AUD
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: from $2,199 AUD
Will there be a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra?
Considering the ongoing popularity of Samsung’s big-screen Ultra model, buyers can almost certainly expect a Galaxy S25 Ultra in 2024. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is the ultra-luxe, pricier upgrade to the standard Galaxy S25 and mid-size Galaxy S25+, offering a larger display, S-Pen compatibility and premium cameras.
Leaks compiled by TomsGuide suggest that the Ultra will feature an improved quadruple camera system with a new 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. It may also come with a variable telephoto camera that can adjust zoom, lighting and shutter speed for both still photos and video.
TechRadar has reported that the Ultra could include 16GB of RAM, up from the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 12GB. However, other major specifications, such as battery size, display size and overall design are likely to remain mostly unchanged.
Samsung Galaxy S25 rumours
Major phone manufacturers, including Samsung, Apple and Google, are now pushing AI as the key selling point of each flagship smartphone. The Galaxy S25 series will include the Galaxy AI features integrated in last year’s S24, with the potential for more operations to be built-in on the device itself, rather than accessed via the cloud.
As Samsung has had a long-standing relationship with Qualcomm, it’s likely that the Galaxy S25 series will launch with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset across all models. This includes in Australia, where previously the more premium Snapdragon processors had instead been exclusive to the high-end Galaxy Ultra.
While Samsung lovers can anticipate overall improvements in performance and battery life, key hardware and design changes are tipped to be incremental. There’s no indication yet that Samsung will increase any of the three devices’ display sizes, although peak screen brightness and refresh rates may get an upgrade. Each S25 model is also expected to have the same number of cameras as the S24 series and in the same sizes, with the exception of the Ultra’s possible switch from a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera to 50 megapixels.
One interesting rumour reported by Digital Trends is Samsung’s possible move into adding magnetic accessories to its Galaxy range, including cases and a magnetic wallet. This would see Samsung finally catch up to Apple on the magnetic add-ons front, as Apple’s MagSafe phone accessories have been available since 2020.
As for colours, display guru Ross Young tweeted that Samsung will offer Moon Night Blue, Silver Shadow, Sparkling Blue and Sparkling Green for the base Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+, and Titanium Black, Titanium Blue, Titanium Grey and Titanium Silver for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Below is wrap-up of the rumoured specifications and features for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series — keep in mind that nothing is confirmed until the official January 23 launch.
