iPhone SE 2022 review: Small but mighty
Should I buy an iPhone SE on a plan or outright?
The iPhone SE is available to buy outright from a range of retailers, and while it’s an older phone, Apple is still manufacturing this device. iPhone SE plans are still available from some telcos, although you may find that certain colours or storage sizes are limited.
If you choose to buy your iPhone SE on a phone plan, you typically won’t pay more for the phone itself compared to buying your phone outright. What tends to cost more is the phone plan that you bundle with your device.
Phone plans from the telcos that offer devices on a plan — mostly Telstra, Optus and Vodafone — are usually more expensive than what the smaller providers offer. This means that if you want to keep your iPhone SE costs low, you may need to buy your iPhone SE outright and bundle it with a cheap SIM-only phone plan. However buying iPhone SE plans has the advantage of splitting the cost of your device over 12, 24 or 36 months.
