Telstra bundles: Telstra internet bundles with entertainment

Telstra is one of the few providers to offer the option to bundle multiple services on the one account. The most common form are Telstra internet bundles, or more specifically, Telstra NBN bundle plans.

Telstra offers a selection of internet plans — including NBN and 5G home wireless — along with a wide range of entertainment options. While you can just get your internet plan as a standalone plan, you also have the option to bundle a range of subscription services such as Disney+, Kayo and Spotify. Telstra also offers the option to add on Fetch, along with PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles.

If you’re looking at Telstra NBN bundles, you’ll need to bundle your choice of entertainment extra on to your plan, as Telstra doesn’t offer plans with entertainment bundles included — although Telstra’s NBN plans already include a home phone service and modem bundled onto the plan. However, bundling of some services may only be available with eligible Telstra plans.

Telstra’s NBN plans are available with NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 250 and NBN 1000 speeds. Prices for these plans are rather expensive when compared to NBN plans from other providers and these prices are without any entertainment extras or add ons.

Keep in mind that these subscription services and packages will be an additional cost to your Telstra bill, and the prices paid for these services depend on the subscription or bundle price you choose.

Telstra Foxtel packages

Telstra had previously offered the option to bundle Foxtel packages on to your Telstra plan, however it currently does not offer this service. If you’re looking to bundle Foxtel with an NBN plan, you’ll need to opt for a Foxtel internet bundle directly from Foxtel.

Other Telstra bundle plans

In addition to Telstra NBN bundles and other Telstra internet bundles, Telstra offers the option to bundle streaming services if you’re on an eligible Telstra phone plan.

Telstra also offers bundle phone and data-only SIM plans, which are effectively more like family bundle plans where you can have additional services on the one account. For customers with an Essential or Premium mobile plan or data-only plan, you’ll be able to add on a bundle plan.

This bundle plan can be cheaper than having a separate mobile service for multiple members of your household, especially if you’re looking for a phone plan for your child. The data-only plan can also be a good option if you have multiple devices that require a data-only SIM, such as iPads and other tablet devices.

How do Telstra bundles compare to other providers?

Entertainment packages bundled with internet plans are not as common as they once were. However, a few providers still offer these types of internet bundles.

Fetch was once available from a range of internet providers, however it isn’t as widely available as it once was previously. iiNet is one of the only other internet providers, along with Telstra, to offer the option to add Fetch on to an NBN plan.

Vodafone offers the option to bundle on the Hubbl set top box, and like Telstra, also offers the option to bundle a PlayStation 5 gaming console with your plan.

Optus and Foxtel are two other providers offering competitive entertainment bundling options. While Foxtel offers its NBN plans bundled with its paid TV packages, Optus offers subscription bundling, which is similar to the Telstra bundles.

Optus offers the option to bundle a range of subscriptions — including Netflix, BINGE and Optus Sport — via its subscription bundling service, Optus SubHub. You’ll also save on your subscription costs when you bundle multiple eligible services. In addition to bundling with SubHub, Optus also offers a specific Family Entertainer internet plan with a Netflix Standard subscription included with your plan.

Are Telstra bundle plans worth the money?

Telstra is the biggest telco in Australia, and may be the first provider that comes to mind when you think of bundles and entertainment extras. However, the internet market is much more competitive than it once was, especially as the NBN rollout levelled the playing field. More providers are offering competitive plans, prices and extras, so you might have a wider choice of plans available.

However, for those wishing for more than just an internet service, Telstra is one of only a small number of providers offering entertainment extras and other perks on some of its plans. The benefit is that it can be more convenient to bundle services on the one bill rather than sourcing internet and entertainment separately. However, you’ll still need to pay for these additional services.

When choosing an internet plan, it’s always worth comparing a wide range of plans and providers to see what kind of value for money is available to you. Consider whether Telstra bundles are right for you, if these services are worth paying extra for, and if these plans will suit your budget.

Canstar Blue may earn a fee from its Online Partners for referrals from its website tables, and from sponsorship or promotion of certain products. Fees payable by product providers for referrals and sponsorship or promotion may vary between providers, website position, and revenue model. Sponsorship/promotion fees may be higher than referral fees. If a product is sponsored or promoted, it’s an ad and it is clearly marked as such. An ad might appear in different places on our website, such as in comparison tables and articles. Ads may be displayed in a fixed position in a table, regardless of the product's rating, price or other attributes. The location of an ad doesn’t indicate any ranking or rating by Canstar Blue. Payment of fees for ads does not influence Value Rank or Customer Satisfaction Ratings. See How We Get Paid to find out more.

NBN Value Rank & Sort Order

The data in the table is updated within 24 hours of Canstar Blue becoming aware of a change. You can find a description of the initial sort order below the table. You can use the sort buttons at the top of each column to re-order the display. Learn more about our NBN Value Rank Methodology

Please note that the Customer Satisfaction rating displayed in the table is a rating relating to customer overall satisfaction with the brand, and should not be confused with an individual product rating. Learn more about NBN Customer Satisfaction ratings and for more information on how the Customer Satisfaction ratings are calculated, read the Canstar Blue Customer Satisfaction Ratings Methodology.

The ratings shown are only one factor to take into account when considering products. The results do not include all NBN retailers or products in the market, and may not compare all features relevant to you. Canstar Blue does not supply internet services. If you decide to apply for a particular NBN plan, you will deal directly with the NBN retailer, and not with Canstar Blue. Fees, charges, product information and contract terms should be confirmed directly with the relevant NBN retailer. The NBN plans listed are suitable for Fixed Line connections for residential purposes.

NBN Speed Tiers

The speed associated with a speed tier is the typical evening download speed of the plan. These tiers are based on a range of usage scenarios set out by NBN Co. Internet speeds on the NBN network are influenced by factors like access technology, equipment quality, chosen plan, and network design. Speeds may fluctuate during busy periods and depend on the number of users online simultaneously, as well as your NBN access technology. Check with a retailer before purchasing a product to see what speed you will likely receive at your address.

Typical Evening Speed

The typical evening speed of personal household plans can also be known as typical busy period speed. Typical busy period speeds are the download/upload speeds the plan typically delivers between 7pm and 11pm each day (the busy period). The method for measuring and verifying the typical busy period speed may differ between retailers, however all retailers must conform to an ACCC legislated base case. The typical evening speed for each product is displayed in accordance with the product information developed by the retailer. The accuracy of the speed information should be confirmed with the relevant NBN retailer.

When 'TBC' is displayed this means that the provider is currently unable to provide typical evening speed estimates because sufficient data is not yet available.
The ACCC monitors the performance of internet providers. You can read more here. The speeds you experience may be lower than the advertised typical evening speed depending on factors such as your in-home set up and wiring.

Unlimited Data

Where 'unlimited' is used in relation to Data available on a plan it is likely to be subject to a fair use policy. Please confirm any terms of a fair use policy with your selected provider before making a purchase decision.

What does the ‘phone’ mean?
