Optus NBN bundles
If you’re looking for Optus NBN bundles, there are a couple of different options available. While there is a more traditional-style NBN plan where you pay a higher price for added extras, Optus also makes bundling available via the Optus SubHub subscription bundling service.
Customers with eligible Optus internet and phone plans are able to sign up to Optus SubHub, where you can bundle subscriptions — including Netflix, BINGE and Paramount+ — with discounts offered for bundling multiple services. Optus customers will also get a discount on Optus Sport compared to non-Optus customers. Keep in mind that you’ll still be paying for your subscription/s each month in addition to your NBN plan fees.
However, if you’re after a more traditional internet bundle plan with extras added on and built into the plan cost, Optus’ Family Entertainer NBN plan might be a better option. Designed for families with high internet usage needs, in addition to your standard NBN plan you’ll get a Netflix Standard subscription, along with a WiFi booster and internet security add-ons to optimise your home internet experience.
Optus offers its standard NBN plans with NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 250 and NBN 1000 speed tiers, while the Family Entertainer plan is only available on NBN 50 to NBN 1000 speeds. You can add an Optus modem to your plan for $0 when you stay connected for 36 months, although if you cancel your plan before then, you’ll need to pay off the remaining modem costs. If you’d prefer to BYO modem, you’ll only be able to do so with the standard NBN plan and not the Family Entertainer plan.
Other Optus internet bundles
In addition to Optus NBN bundle plans, there are also Optus bundles with other internet plans. Customers on other eligible internet plans, such as home wireless plans, are able to access Optus SubHub and bundle subscription services onto your account.
If you’re looking for a 5G home internet plan, Optus also offers an Entertainer bundle plan with uncapped 5G speeds. This plan includes a Netflix Standard subscription, along with a 5G-compatible modem, which is included on other 5G home internet plans.
Other Optus bundle plans
While Optus internet bundles may be a good option for family entertainment, you don’t need to be an Optus internet customer to be able to bundle with Optus SubHub. Optus customers with an eligible postpaid phone plan can also bundle subscription services with SubHub along with accessing a cheaper subscription price for Optus Sport.
How do Optus bundles compare to other NBN bundles?
Optus is one of the few internet providers offering bundles, including its wide range of entertainment bundling options. Telstra and Foxtel are two other providers that offer similar bundling options.
Both Telstra and Foxtel offer internet and entertainment bundles, but when you look at the details, each paints a slightly different picture. The other two are priced higher than Optus, but have slightly different bundles to offer.
Telstra offers the option to bundle a range of subscription services, including Disney+, Kayo and Spotify, to your Telstra account. However, you won’t be able to save on your subscription costs when you bundle multiple services. In addition to subscriptions, Telstra also offers the option to bundle Fetch along with PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox gaming consoles with eligible plans.
Foxtel’s internet bundles are a little different, considering the Foxtel packages are the main focus, but with internet added on. You’ll only get access to NBN 50 speeds and you’ll have the option to add on a modem or BYO modem — although home phone add-ons are not available with BYO modem. Foxtel’s bundle plans include a range of different entertainment packages, with your choice between a standard, movie, sports, movie and sports packages or the platinum package.
While there aren’t too many other providers with bundle plans, iiNet and Vodafone also offer internet bundles. iiNet offers the option to bundle Fetch with your internet plan, while Vodafone offers both Hubbl and PlayStation 5 bundling.
Are Optus NBN bundles worth the money?
Optus certainly has a lot to offer and you don’t need to sign up to an expensive plan to access bundling. However, its standard NBN plan is on the slightly more expensive end when compared to what other providers offer, and you will still need to pay the additional cost of any subscriptions you bundle via Optus SubHub. If you’d prefer the Family Entertainer plan, it’ll set you back around $20 more than the standard Optus NBN plan.
While the Optus NBN bundles are expensive compared to basic NBN plans from other providers, Telstra and Foxtel’s bundle plans will set you back even more each month. Telstra’s standard NBN plans are some of the most expensive on the market — and that’s without the extra cost of any bundled entertainment add-ons.
If you’re set on picking up a bundle internet plan, you won’t have too many options to choose from and they’ll usually cost more than a standard NBN plan. However, if you still want a bundle plan, picking the right plan ultimately depends on what kind of bundle you’re looking for.
