Drive to Survive
Regardless if you’ve been an F1 fan for years, or you’ve never seen a race in your life, Drive to Survive will get you hooked. Following teams and drivers as the Formula 1 season progresses, Drive to Survive is part documentary and all action, giving you a behind-the-scenes view as races play out, with interviews giving you additional insights into the business behind the sport.
Shadow & Bone
Based off the book series of the same name, Shadow & Bone follows Alina Starkov, a seemingly unimportant cartographer who lives in a world that has been split in two by something called ‘The Fold’. However, Alina is more than she seems (or even realised), and turns out to be the prophesised ‘Sun Summoner’, a rare magician who can turn the ravaged world around and overcome The Fold, and the dangers that lurk within.

You
You will keep you hooked and freaked out in equal measures, with the series following Joe, a bookstore manager in New York who harbours dark secrets and urges. When Joe meets Guinevere, an aspiring writer, in his shop, he becomes infatuated with her, and looks for ways to spend time with her, going to great (and very creepy) lengths to achieve this.
Outlander
Based on the novel series of the same name, Outlander is a historical drama set in the 1700s, after Claire Randall, a WWII military nurse, is somehow transported back in time and finds herself in danger. Set during the Jacobite uprising in Scotland, Claire falls in with the doomed rebels, before falling in love with one of them, and potentially dooming herself to the past for good.
Physical: 100
If you’re a fan of Squid Games, then you’ll love Physical: 100. A Korean reality TV program, Physical: 100 asks the question of ‘what’s the best physique humans can possibly achieve?’ and then pits 100 fit participants against each other in a series of challenges. The participants – of which include fitness influencers and elite sportspeople – are competing for prize money and glory, and push themselves to their breaking point to win it all.
Wednesday
Tim Burton is back at it again, with this time the famed director setting his sights on the spooky Addams family for his latest project. As you can probably guess, Wednesday follows Wednesday Addams as she starts at the Nevermore school, where instead of hitting the books and making friends, she find her new school and town suffering at the hands of a killing-spree, something that hauntingly echoes something that happened over 25 years ago, and has ties to her parents.
Last Chance U: Basketball
College can be tough for a lot of people, but particularly for those who are looking to make their way to the top of their sport. Last Chance U: Basketball follows a number of college-aged athletes as they make their way through life and the Junior College system (known as JUCO, and one step down from the big name colleges in America) as they look to fulfill their basketball dreams. In a documentary style, Last Chance U follows Coach Mosley and the East LA College men’s basketball team throughout their season, and their personal struggles.
Taboo
Arguably the strangest entry on this list, Taboo was originally released in 2017, but flew under the radar for years, before a recent resurgence put the Tom Hardy-lead title back on the map. Hardy plays James Delaney, a strange and troubled man who returns home to England after learning of the death of his father. From here, he learns of his meagre inheritance, as well as the troubles that brew under the surface between himself and his loved ones. It’s a strange show for sure, but oh so good.
1899
Travelling back in the day wasn’t as exciting as it is now, with journeys often taking months to complete due to the technology of the time. As a result, anything could happen on those journeys, and 1899 explores just that. Following a group of passengers on the steamship Kerberos as it journeys from Southampton in the UK to New York, there’s an unnerving atmosphere as the passengers know that a ship following the same route had disappeared off the map just months before.
Top Boy
Back on the telly after a push by Drake himself, Top Boy is a British series that follows gangs looking to control territory and drugs to survive in a time and place that often forgets about them. The first two seasons of Top Boy – which are now known as Top Boy: Summerhouse – were released over a decade ago, before the show was cancelled. However, a resurgence has seen another two seasons come to air, with another season on the way, with the latest seasons intermingling with the old seasons to give the show an old school versus new school element.
