Fact Checked Fact Checked

KEY POINTS

  • Energy rebates are offered in every Australian state and territory
  • To be eligible, each government rebate has its own set of criteria that Aussies must meet
  • Comparing energy retailers and plans is the most effective way to save money on electricity bills

If you’re struggling with the price of electricity, consider whether you could be receiving a government discount on energy.

In the following article, Canstar Blue explores Australia’s current energy rebates and concessions.

Federal Government’s Energy Bill Relief Fund extension

Eligible households nationwide will be able to claim an additional $150 off electricity bills continuing in July 2025 under the Australian Government’s extended Energy Bill Relief fund.

The $150 off will be split into two $75 installments and is expected to reach most Australians in June and September 2025 respectively.
