Smart shoppers are no strangers to scoring scorching savings on fashion, appliances, phones and more during Black Friday sales – but this year, Australia’s biggest energy retailer is getting in on the action. Origin Energy has launched a limited-time offer for new customers on its popular Everyday Rewards Variable electricity and gas plans, tripling the number of points awarded at sign-up.
From November 20 to December 3, 2024, new residential customers in New South Wales, Victoria, South East Queensland, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory will earn 15,000 Everyday Rewards points for each energy type when moving to Origin’s Everyday Rewards Variable plan – so electricity and gas users can claim a huge 30,000 points. Normally, new customers on this plan will receive 5,000 points for each energy type, to a maximum of 10,000 points for both electricity and gas.
Along with bonus points at sign-up, Origin’s Everyday Rewards Variable plan allows customers to also earn one rewards point for every $1 spent on their Origin bill. Additional points are also available for adding Origin’s Go Zero carbon offset options, which are certified carbon neutral by Climate Active, and a further 5,000 points are on offer if you add Origin home internet to your account.
To qualify for Origin’s Black Friday points bonus, you’ll need to have a registered Everyday Rewards membership at the time of sign-up, and be a new Origin residential energy customer. You can compare Origin’s market offer electricity plans in your state below.

Should I move to an Origin Energy plan this Black Friday?
While Origin’s Black Friday offer is bound to appeal to Everyday Rewards members, it’s important to compare rates and shop around before deciding on a new home energy plan and provider. Ultimately, you’ll need to consider how you use electricity or gas, what charges may apply, and what’s available in your location.
Remember, while discounts and sign-up offers can save you money upfront, you may end up paying more if you jump on a plan with higher rates than other offers available in your area. You can compare some of the cheapest electricity options in our database below.
