Dodo NBN Plans & Prices Compared

When it comes to internet plans, there may be a few names you think about, and for many Aussies, Dodo would no doubt be one of them. Dodo, which is part of the Vocus group (along with iPrimus), is a rather well known internet service provider (ISP) that’s become a popular choice for many Australians. When it comes to NBN market share, the Vocus Group has around 8% of the NBN market, making it the fourth largest internet company (behind Telstra, TPG Telecom and Optus).

Dodo offers a simple range reasonably priced plans across NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100 and NBN 250 speed tiers, and all with unlimited data, plus your choice of plan length. You’ll also find that Dodo frequently offers discounts on plans, so there are some savings around if you sign up at the right time. So what exactly does Dodo internet offer, and how does it compare to other NBN providers? In this Dodo NBN review, we’ll take a look at what you can expect in terms of plans and prices.

Dodo NBN Plans

Dodo’s NBN plans are fairly straightforward. All plans are contract-free, and you can choose your preferred speed tier — NBN 25 (also known as Basic), NBN 50 (also known as Standard), NBN 100 (also known as Fast) or NBN 250 (also known as Superfast). All speed plans are available with unlimited data, and there are optional extras such as call packs. As NBN 100 and NBN 250 are only available to certain areas (and not available with a fixed wireless connection), you will need to check this on the Dodo site before signing up. You can choose to BYO modem or add a modem on to your plan for an additional upfront cost.

An unlimited call pack to local/national/mobile numbers costs an extra $10 a month, and international packs can be added from $15 a month. This pack includes 2,000 minutes to landline numbers in 25 countries, while an additional $20 per month will get you 2,000 minutes to landline and mobile numbers in 25 countries. If you want to add Fetch on to your NBN plan, you can select from Fetch Mini from $25 per month, or Fetch Mighty for $35 per month.

Should I sign up to a Dodo NBN plan?

Dodo is well-known as an internet provider with competitive plans and a straightforward approach. But the question remains – can you find a better deal elsewhere? Although Dodo is known to offer rather cheap NBN plans, there are other providers giving it a run for its money. If you’re interested in what other Aussies think of Dodo as an internet provider, in Canstar Blue’s annual Customer Satisfaction ratings for NBN providers, Dodo achieved three stars for overall satisfaction in the 2023 report.

If you’re considering a Dodo NBN plan, apart from plan cost alone, you should also look at modem costs and any other associated charges. Dodo’s month-to-month plans offer flexibility, but do come with an upfront cost if you plan to add a new modem. If you want NBN 100 or NBN 250, you may not have access to it at your home, so you’ll need to check which plans are available to you on the Dodo website before signing up. Once you’ve made your plan purchase, Dodo will check your address and let you know if your plan of choice isn’t compatible with your home’s connection.

While Dodo is certainly not an expensive provider, its set-up fees and other associated costs with its no-contract options may make the first month of the plan a bit pricey upfront. However, keep in mind that upfront setup or modem fees are often found with plans from other providers too, so it is worth keeping Dodo in your considerations for NBN plans. Overall, it always helps to compare plans from a range of internet providers so you can find the best NBN deal for you.
