TPG, Vodafone and iiNet NBN customers may soon be hit with a bigger broadband bill, thanks to new price increases from parent company TPG Telecom.
From March 26, monthly prices on selected plans will jump as much as $9 per month, adding up to $108 per year to customers’ bills. The changes will apply both to new customers signing up to TPG, Vodafone or iiNet, as well as existing customers; however, a number of legacy customers will actually pay less per month under the new pricing structure.
According to the ACCC, TPG and its subsidiary brands currently claim 20% of the NBN market share, accounting for around 1.7 million services. The company is Australia’s second-largest NBN provider behind Telstra.
How will my NBN plan price change?
Vodafone NBN price changes
While price rises are hitting all three brands, how much more you’ll pay will vary between telcos. The biggest increases have been applied to Vodafone, with its NBN 25 and popular NBN 50 speed tiers now $9 per month more expensive.
The good news is that a small percentage of long-term Vodafone customers will actually see their NBN bills decrease. Customers on selected legacy NBN 100 and NBN 250 plans could pay between $1 and $41 less per month after switching to Vodafone’s updated plans — check your current Vodafone bill to see if this applies to you.
Speed tier | Old price | New price | Annual price rise |
---|---|---|---|
NBN 12 | $70 | $74 | $48 |
NBN 25 | $75 | $84 | $108 |
NBN 50 | $80 | $89 | $108 |
NBN 100 | $90 | $94 | $48 |
NBN 250 | $100 | $104 | $48 |
NBN 1000 | $110 | $110 | – |
iiNet NBN price changes
iiNet’s largest increase is on its entry-level NBN 12 and fast NBN 100 plans, both of which will rise by $5 per month. Luckily for current customers, its NBN 50, NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans will remain unchanged.
As with Vodafone, some iiNet customers who have been grandfathered in to older plans will pay less per month under the new price structure.
Speed tier | Old price | New price | Annual price rise |
---|---|---|---|
NBN 12 | $69.99 | $74.99 | $60 |
NBN 25 | $74.99 | $76.99 | $24 |

NBN 250 | $99.99 | $99.99 | – |
NBN 1000 | $109.99 | $109.99 | – |
TPG NBN price changes
Of the three impacted brands, TPG is the only one making sweeping price changes, with all six NBN speed tiers being hit with a price hike. All plans have increased by $5 per month; the exception is its NBN 25 plan, which is now a modest $2 per month more expensive.
Some existing TPG customers may pay less after moving to the new plans, but this will depend on your current contract.
Speed tier | Old price | New price | Annual price rise |

Why are TPG’s NBN prices increasing?
A TPG Telecom spokesperson told Canstar Blue that while most customers will pay more, existing customers on older plans may benefit from the changes.
“Due to a number of factors, including changes in wholesale pricing from NBN Co, most customers will see an increase in their monthly costs, with some customers paying less per month.
“By moving customers off legacy plans and onto in-market plans, some customers will benefit from the latest plan offerings. Consolidating plans also allows us to simplify services, reduce confusion and deliver streamlined plans that are easier to manage.
“Customers on impacted plans will be contacted and provided with a clear comparison of their new plan and previous plan.”
The last significant NBN price changes occurred after NBN Co’s December 2023 wholesale price revisions, which led to increases in NBN 50 costs, but a reduction in prices for very high speed services.

How you can save on your NBN plan
If you’re currently on a Vodafone, TPG or iiNet NBN plan and looking to cut costs, now’s the time to shop around. Most plans from these three providers are now contract-free, so you can switch to a different telco without incurring early exit fees.
The exception is if your plan includes a ‘zero dollar’ modem, which is only free if you stay connected for a minimum period (usually 24 months). If this applies, you may need to pay out the remaining modem balance to exit your contract.
Once you’re free to compare, you can find significantly cheaper offers across most NBN speed tiers, including NBN 50. Currently, the cheapest NBN 50 plans on Canstar Blue’s database begin at $69.90 per month as standard, with discounted introductory prices also available.
It’s important to note that TPG, iiNet and Vodafone are currently running their own new customer discounts across NBN. New Vodafone customers can save $10 per month for six months, while new iiNet and TPG sign-ups can save $15 per month for six months.
The competitive nature of the NBN market means there’s plenty of new-customer incentives available from a wide range of providers. Just make sure you’re aware of the standard monthly cost before you jump on board.
