Tough but pretty: Meet the budget-friendly OPPO A80 phone

OPPO, one of the leading brands in the affordable smartphone space, has released its latest phone in the budget-friendly A series — the OPPO A80.

The OPPO A80 is a phone that is built to last, thanks to its 360॰ damage-proof armour body, big battery and sub $400 price point. It also marks the launch of OPPO’s new AI technology in the A series for the first time.

“This year, OPPO will equip more than 50 million users’ phones with generative AI technology globally. Accelerating the adoption of AI phones, we are introducing generative AI technology to the A series for the first time,” Michael Tran, Managing Director of OPPO Australia said.

“We are excited to bring this innovative AI technology to Australian users through our new A80 handset, making advanced technology accessible.”

As part of the budget-friendly A series, the OPPO A80 is available for $369 AUD RRP. OPPO has designed the A80 for durability, featuring a damage-proof armour body which has a reinforced internal structure, along with twice-reinforced Panda Glass on the screen.

While the A80 is designed to withstand everyday wear and tear, OPPO hasn’t let that get in the way of a sleek and luxurious design, with the phone measuring in at 7.68mm thick and weighing 186g. You’ll get a premium and glossy frame design, along with a decorative camera bump on the back. The phone is available in two colours — a simple but sleek Stormy Black option and the stunning Moonlight Purple finish.

The OPPO A80 features a 6.67-inch display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, along with a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits in sunlight and a typical 850 nits brightness. You’ll also get a big 5,100mAh battery, along with up to 45W fast charge, which can charge the phone up to 100% in 74 minutes.

You’ll get a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G processor, which also includes 5G connectivity — great for future-proofing your device. There’s also 8GB RAM along with 256GB of internal storage.

OPPO has also packed in a dual-rear camera setup with 50MP main camera and 2MP portrait camera, while you’ll get a 8MP front-facing selfie camera. You’ll also get portrait mode, night mode and a range of features to up your photo and video game. There is also an AI Eraser tool to remove any unwanted people or objects from your images.

You’ll also get OPPO’s AI LinkBoost which helps to maintain a stable connection in areas where the signal is weak or the network is busy. This keeps you connected while online gaming or streaming video for a more reliable performance.
