Ready for faster home internet, but concerned about paying more on your broadband bill? TPG’s newest deal for upgrading customers offers superior speeds, as well as a sweet discount on plan prices.
For a limited time, TPG is throwing in up to $250 of bonus bill credit when customers take advantage of a free NBN fibre upgrade. New and switching customers can claim $250 off their home internet bill, while current TPG NBN users will score a $100 credit.
The offer is available to customers who jump on TPG’s fibre upgrade program, which is offered in partnership with NBN Co. The program gives customers on Fibre to the Node (FTTN) and Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) NBN connections the opportunity to move to a faster Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) connection type where available, without the need to pay upgrade or installation costs.
TPG is offering bonus bill credit to customers who activate a full-fibre upgrade between now and March 31, 2024, unless withdrawn or extended. All bonus credit will be applied to a customer’s monthly bill 30 days after the upgrade is complete.
Keep in mind that if you decide to cancel your TPG plan before your full bill credit has been used, you’ll forfeit any remaining credit.
In addition to scoring up to $250 off home internet, new TPG customers are also eligible for a six-month discount on selected fast NBN plans. TPG is cutting the price of its fastest plans by up to $30 per month for the first six months, with customers able to save up to $180 in total off their bill.
Discounts are available on the following plans:
- NBN 100: $79.99 per month for your first six months, then $89.99 per month ongoing
- NBN Home superfast (NBN 250): $94.99 per month for your first six months, then $124.99 per month ongoing
- NBN Home Ultrafast (NBN 1000): $114.99 per month for your first six months, then $144.99 per month ongoing
These offers are available until withdrawn for new TPG customers only.

What is the NBN fibre upgrade program?
NBN Co’s fibre upgrade program gives eligible households the opportunity to improve their existing NBN technology in order to access extra-fast download and upload speeds. Homes and businesses in selected suburbs with FTTN or FTTC connection types can apply to upgrade to FTTP, which uses fast fibre to connect your address directly to the nearest NBN node.
Currently, homes serviced by FTTN or FTTC technology aren’t capable of accessing super-fast NBN 250 or NBN 1000 speeds, as these tiers are only available to FTTP and some Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connections. However, NBN Co has partnered with a range of broadband providers to allow customers in eligible postcodes to upgrade to a FTTP connection, free of charge.
The program is now open to three million homes and businesses across the country, with an additional 400,000 addresses expected to be eligible by 2025. Interested NBN customers can view the full list of upgrade-ready suburbs here, and check their home’s eligibility via NBN Co’s address checker.
If your address gets the green light, you can trigger your free fibre upgrade by ordering a high-speed NBN plan from a participating internet provider. If you’re currently on a FTTN connection, you’ll need to order a Home Fast (NBN 100) plan or faster. Customers with a FTTC connection will need to order a Home Superfast (NBN 250) or Home Ultrafast (NBN 1000) plan to qualify.
Some of the major telcos partnering with NBN Co to offer upgrades include Aussie Broadband, Dodo, Flip, Optus, Southern Phone, Superloop, Tangerine, Telstra and TPG. Upgrading to fast FTTP should be free for all standard installations, but be aware that moving to a faster NBN speed may mean you’ll pay more for your broadband plan each month.
