Victorian households are becoming spoilt for choice when it comes to cheap electricity plans, as competition heats back up after a tumultuous period for the wholesale energy market.
A number of providers, including the likes of Energy Locals, AGL and EnergyAustralia, have made the move towards attractive sign-up credits for customers in the state. Selected retailers are offering households from $50 to over $200 off their power bills, according to Canstar Blue’s database.
In addition to this influx of electricity bill credits, a wave of price changes and the entrance of fixed-rate electricity provider, Nectr, has seen competition fire up for consumers.
It seems however, that no matter the changes, providers in Victoria stand no match for notoriously cheap provider GloBird Energy, which continues to dominate the price war in the state.
In its latest venture, the retailer is offering a $110 online sign-up credit across its Boost, GloSave, Green Light and GloGreen plans in Victoria. This is in addition to its previous $220 bill credit for its SureSave product for customers in the state.
The new $110 credit, paired with its usual low base rates, has seen GloBird Energy offering up to 20% off the Victorian Default Offer (VDO) across all five of Victoria’s distribution networks, making it the cheapest provider across the state.
GloBird Energy’s $110 sign-up credit is only applicable to new customers in Victoria, and will be applied as a one-off payment on customers’ sixth month of billing with the provider. Additional discounts may be available for paying on time or by direct debit though on select plans.
